Role overview

Support other advisors within the project as a team to deliver the objectives of the project. Specifically, you will dedicate time to learn and accomplish how to maintain tools, link carpentry and construction as well as designs of different structures to ensure vocational students and teachers have the right and relevant skills required by the industries/employers

Skills, qualifications and experience

The ideal person in this position needs to have strong background on carpentry and construction skills and training skills. S/he will work collaboratively with teachers under carpentry within VETA (vocational education and training authority) in Lindi with travelling to Mtwara to improve the standards of carpentry workshop to meet international standards.

Allowance and accommodation

All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.

VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.

Role overview

The Pediatrician will support the delivery of Accelerated Care and Treatment for Mothers and Newborn (ACT) project which aims at reduction of maternal and newborn mortality in lindi and Mtwara regions. The doctor will work closely with the Regional Health Management Team(RHMT) to strengthen newborn care initiatives in the region through capacity building of health care workers, establishment of the newborn care units(NICU's) and supportive supervision of health care workers

Skills, qualifications and experience

Qualified medical professional (MD) specialized in paediatrics with minimum of 5 years experience in paediatrics of which at least 2 years in neonatal care.

Role overview

The Welding and Fabrication Adviser will work with Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) teachers to provide advice, coaching and where possible support other workshops in welding and fabrication related operations.

Skills, qualifications and experience

Professional qualifications and experience:
Essential
Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Welding and fabrication), Diploma in Vocational training or QTS certification 
Have at least three years in welding maintenance department of a factory or an establishment such as a hospital, public utility company or office building.
Have at least two years experience in practical vocational training
Desirable:
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Experience of working in a developing country.
Experience of working in Low resource settings

Preference is given to those who have background experience in industrial operations or vocational training experience. Education background on international qualifications like City and Guilds or any other will be added advantage
