Job Title: HR Officer
Reports To: Zona HR Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Position Overview
The HR Officer will successfully administer and manage all recruiting activities for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, interns, temporary employees and subcontractors. The HR Officer will execute and administer all functions of Human Resources including but not limited to Worker Compensation compliance, benefits administration, budgetary management, employee relations, event planning, safety, record keeping, and assuring company compliance with all labor laws.
General Responsibilities
• Meets with branch managers and the operations department to determine staffing needs and creates a strategic recruiting plan
• Prepares job postings and advertisements while assuring that they are in compliance with all laws and regulations
• Updates and maintain application tracking system
• Reviews all applications and resumes, conducts phone screens, initial interviews, and coordinates recruiting efforts with branch managers and operations to make hiring decisions
• Prepares and presents job offers, and conducts pre-employment screening
• Conducts new hire orientation while ensuring all new hire paperwork is properly completed
• Manages and promotes employee referral program
• Manages the H2B Guest Worker program and ensures that all documentation is properly and accurately filed
• Performs administrative generalist functions that pertain to Health Insurance and maintains proper documentation
• Coordinates company meetings and events
• Participates in meetings as needed and other HR functions not specified
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent amount of education and experience in Human Resources Management.
• Must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite as well as the ability to quickly learn Turfscape’s software system
• At least 1-3 years in a Human Resources and Recruiting position – preferably in the landscape or construction industry
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Certified in PHR or SPHR is preferred
• Fluent in English is preferred
• Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
• Strong desire for continued growth and learning
